Humanity has inhabited every corner of the world, except Antarctica, for centuries. As groups of people worked and lived together, they developed distinctive cultures. Together the cultures of the world create a rich and varied tapestry. The resulting cultural diversity expands choices, nurtures a variety of skills, human values and worldviews and provides wisdom from the past to inform the future. Cultural diversity is a mainspring for sustainable development for individuals, communities and countries. Thus, building an effective global approach to sustainable development  needs to address respecting, protecting and maintaining the cultural diversity of the world now and in the future. This project intends to encourage intercultural competence by identifying the specific traditions and customs of European countries by adding their own contributions and receiving benefits from this dialogue.  The main goal is to learn about our national identity in the cultural context as well as learning the same about our partners’ culture. Students and teachers will be stimulated to develop their language skills, their research, organizational and social skills as well as their artistic and creative abilities, by registering traditions and customs from their relatives and neighbours, recomposing them into slideshows and illustrating them, gathering recipes, translating them into English and creating cook books, making posters ,presentations, exchanging e-mails,giving concerts about their folk music, holding kermisses, preparing wall panels and booklets. This collaboration will result in four FINAL TASKS: planting trees as the symbol of cultural diversity.
